The aftermath of Hurricane Michael’s devastating sweep through the conservative Florida panhandle region has disrupted normal voting patterns in a way that could alter the outcome of elections, lifting Democrats to victory on Election Day, analysts say.

The storm that rippled through the panhandle Oct. 10 is now threatening to upend the political landscape by depressing turnout in a section of the state crucial to the election hopes of Republican gubernatorial candidate Ron DeSantis and the GOP Senate hopeful, Florida Gov. Rick Scott.
