<\/div>\nThe Hurva Synagogue was first destroyed shortly after its initial construction when Muslims demanding the return of loans tore it down. The synagogue was rebuilt a hundred years later and became the most important Jewish house of worship in the Holy Land, only be blown to pieces by Jordanian troops during Israel’s 1948 War of Independence.<\/p>\n
In 2001, Israel finally decided to rebuild the landmark, which today stands in the center of the Jewish Quarter in Jerusalem\u2019s Old City. Zalman AKA Vilna Gaon (1720-1797) lived a similar life of piety and Torah (please note Vilna Gaon died exactly 100 years before the prophetic 1897 first world Zionist Congress). Both prophesied amazing eschatological statements that seem to be coming true. Can any other religious person claim a track record like these two?<\/p>\n The second prophecy by Vilna Gaon:<\/p>\n \u201cWhen you hear that the Russians have captured the city of Crimea, you should know that the times of the Messiah have started, that his steps are being heard. One shouldn’t dismiss a prophecy merely because the source isn’t a “saved” Christian. Look at the “By Faith Chapter” in Hebrews (11); none of those Jews listed knew Jesus personally. They believed in the promise of a Messiah, and were counted as righteous. Please don’t put God in a box, for He defies definition. Allow God’s Spirit to compel whoever He chooses to illuminate. \nIn this prophecy, the Vilna Gaon mentioned two signs of the imminent arrival of the Messiah \u2013 Russia capturing Crimea and Russia invading the Turkish city of Constantinople (now Istanbul). The first prophecy was fulfilled in 2014 when Russia annexed the Ukrainian territory of Crimea.Current tensions between Russia and Turkey, including Turkey shooting down a Russian fighter jet on November 24 [2015], are setting the stage for the second sign, the Russian invasion of Istanbul, to occur soon.
\nThe prophecy of the Vilna Gaon is strengthened by the existence of a similar prophecy, this one from the Jewish sage known as the Ba\u2019al Shem Tov, the founder of the Hasidic Judaism. Like the Vilna Gaon, the Ba\u2019al Shem Tov lived in the 18th century. The Kloisenberger Rebbe, a 20th century Hasidic rabbi, echoed the Vilna Gaon\u2019s second sign when he wrote \u201cin the name of the Ba\u2019al Shem Tov, when you see the Russian horse in Constantinople, a city in Turkey, you should know Moshiach (Messiah) is about to arrive.\u201d
\nAccording to the Kloisenberger Rebbe, in addition to the Russian military presence in the Turkish city of Istanbul, the Ba\u2019al Shem Tov foretold another sign of the impending arrival of the Messiah \u2013 \u201cthe Russians will come, they will come and be together with the sons of Ishmael.\u201d That is, when the Russians join forces with the spiritual descendents of Ishmael, who today are identified as those of Islamic descent, it\u2019s another sign of the coming of the Messiah.
