President Trump ended his Twitter silence on Friday, branding ousted FBI director James Comey a \u201cleaker,\u201d who vindicated him when he testified that the commander-in-chief was not personally being investigated as part of the probe of Russian interference in last year\u2019s election.<\/p>\n
\u201cDespite so many false statements and lies, total and complete vindication\u2026and WOW, Comey is a leaker!\u201d he wrote.<\/a><\/p>\n The message was the Trump\u2019s first since Wednesday \u2013 a day before Comey\u2019s testimony before the Senate intelligence committee<\/a> that riveted the nation.<\/p>\n Comey admitted to the committee that he decided to ask \u201cclose friend\u201d Columbia law school professor Daniel Richman to leak contents of his notes<\/a> detailing discussions with Trump to a reporter, in the hopes that it would prompt the appointment of a special counsel to probe the administration.<\/p>\n \u201cI didn\u2019t do it myself for a variety of reasons, but I asked him to because I thought that might prompt the appointment of a special counsel, so I asked a close friend of mine to do it,\u201d he testified.<\/p>\n The former top G-Man said the leak was spurred by an ominous sounding Trump tweet. \u201cJames Comey better hope that there are no \u201ctapes\u201d of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!\u201d Trump tweeted<\/a> on May 12.<\/p>\n \u201cI woke up in the middle of the night on Monday night, because it didn\u2019t dawn on me originally, that there might be corroboration for our conversation, there might be a tape,\u201d Comey said.<\/p>\n
