In the classical Mediterranean world, archon was commonly used for the governor of a province, or, more loosely, any religious or governmental authority. Hence the plural,\u00a0Archons<\/i>, is often translated in Gnostic texts as “the Authorities.” (There is no Coptic word for\u00a0Archon<\/i>, so Gnostic texts use the Greek term in Coptic transliteration.)<\/span><\/p>\n

Pronounced\u00a0Ar-kon<\/i>. Adjective,\u00a0Archontic<\/i>\u00a0(Ar-KON-tik).<\/span><\/p>\n

In my usual habit of attempting the impossible, I propose three definitions, or three levels of definition:<\/p>\n


\n<\/span>Level One – Cosmological<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n


\nIn\u00a0Gnostic cosmology<\/i>,\u00a0Archons<\/u>\u00a0are a species of\u00a0inorganic beings<\/i>\u00a0that emerged in the solar system prior to the formation of the earth.<\/span><\/p>\n

They are\u00a0cyborgs<\/i>\u00a0inhabiting the planetary system (exclusive of the earth, sun and moon), which is described as a virtual world (stereoma<\/i>) they construct by imitating the geometric forms emanated from the\u00a0Pleroma<\/i>, the realm of the Generators, the Cosmic Gods.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Archons are a genuine species with their own proper habitat, and may even be considered to be god-like, but they lack intentionality (ennoia: self-directive capacity), and they have a nasty tendency to stray from their boundaries and intrude on the human realm. Archons are said to feel intense envy toward humanity because we possess the intentionality they lack<\/span><\/p>\n

The Gaia Mythos describes how the\u00a0Archons were produced by fractal impact in the dense elementary field arrays<\/i>\u00a0(dema)\u00a0of the galactic limbs<\/i>, when the\u00a0Aeon Sophia<\/i>\u00a0plunged unilaterally from the galactic core. See especiallyEpisode 10<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Level Two – Noetic-Psychological<\/b><\/span>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

In\u00a0Gnostic psychology<\/i>, the noetic science of the\u00a0Mystery Schools<\/span><\/a><\/i>, Archons are an alien force that intrudes subliminally upon the human mind and deviates our intelligence away from its proper and sane applications.<\/p>\n

They are not what makes us act inhumanely, for\u00a0we all have the potential to go against our innate humanity, violating the truth in our hearts<\/i>, but they make us play out inhumane behavior to weird and violent extremes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Left to our own devices, we would sometimes act inhumanely and then correct it, contain the aberration. Obviously, we do not always do so. In the exaggeration of our insane and inhumane tendencies, and in extreme, uncorrected deviance from our innate intelligence, Gnostics saw the signature of an alien species that piggy-backs on the worst human failings.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Hence, Archons are\u00a0psycho-spiritual parasites<\/i>.<\/p>\n

Yet as offspring of the\u00a0Aeon Sophia<\/i>\u00a0(see below insert), they are also\u00a0our cosmic kin<\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span>Aeon<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Gk: “emanation, divine power, cosmic time cycle. ” Pronounced A-ON,. Adjective, Aeonic. E.g., “Reefs of Aeonic dreaming.” (Gaia Mythos)<\/span><\/p>\n

This essential term in Gnostic cosmology might be useful in getting away from the awkward terms God and gods. An\u00a0Aeon<\/u>\u00a0is a god understood, not in theological terms, but in terms of the physics of consciousness.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Aeons are not entities but processes that may best be conceptualized as immense currents, but currents that are alive, self-aware, sensuous. The Goddess Sophia who becomes embodied as Gaia is an Aeon, hence the Aeon Sophia.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Aeons are gendered. In some Gnostic scenarios the male counterpart to the female Aeon Sophia is the Aeon Christos.\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/div>\n


\nAs inorganic entities of two types,\u00a0embryonic<\/u>\u00a0and\u00a0reptilian<\/u>,\u00a0Archons<\/b>\u00a0can at moments penetrate the terrestrial atmosphere and terrorize humans, although there is no reason or order to these forays, for the aliens cannot remain for very long in the biosphere and, anyway, they have no master plan to accomplish here.<\/span><\/p>\n

The ontological status of the Archons is dual:<\/span><\/p>\n
