{"id":30215,"date":"2019-01-17T10:52:41","date_gmt":"2019-01-17T14:52:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cosmicconvergence.org\/?p=30215"},"modified":"2019-01-17T10:53:30","modified_gmt":"2019-01-17T14:53:30","slug":"wrexit-macron-may-conspire-to-overturn-brexit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cosmicconvergence.org\/?p=30215","title":{"rendered":"WREXIT: Macron &#038; May Conspire to Overturn Brexit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 100%; height: 0px; position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.25%;\"><iframe style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%; position: absolute; left: 0;\" src=\"\/\/resources.newscdn.com.au\/cs\/video\/vjs\/stable\/build\/index.html?id=5348771529001-5990466306001&amp;=domain=theaustralian\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/div>\n<h1>France triggers &#8216;hard Brexit&#8217; plan as no-deal exit is more and more likely<\/h1>\n<p>EURONEWS<\/p>\n<p>French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe announced on Thursday that the country&#8217;s plan to soften the impacts of a possible hard Brexit has been activated, including a \u20ac50 million investment programme to help ports and airports.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement came just days after British MPs voted against the Withdrawal Agreement, increasing the likelihood of a no-deal Brexit.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We can regret this rejection or rejoice in it, but in any case what is certain is that the scenario of a no-deal Brexit is less and less unlikely,&#8221; Philippe told reporters.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Under these conditions, our responsibility is to make sure that our country is ready, that the interests of our citizens are preserved and defended,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<h2>\u20ac50 million for ports and airports<\/h2>\n<p>The French government started working on its contingency plan in the event that the UK leaves the EU without a deal in April 2018.<\/p>\n<p>The plan includes five emergency laws to be pushed through within the next three weeks.<\/p>\n<p>The first of which is to be passed on Thursday and will enable British citizens living in France to forgo asking for a residency permit for the next year. Philippe said the law was &#8220;subject to reciprocity.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A \u20ac50 million investment programme in ports and airports, which Philippe described as &#8220;the most important places when it comes to imminent changes to be made in light of a no-deal Brexit,&#8221; will also be triggered.
