{"id":31860,"date":"2019-03-10T13:38:04","date_gmt":"2019-03-10T17:38:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cosmicconvergence.org\/?p=31860"},"modified":"2019-03-10T13:38:04","modified_gmt":"2019-03-10T17:38:04","slug":"men-are-now-suing-to-protect-the-life-of-aborted-fetus-they-fathered","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cosmicconvergence.org\/?p=31860","title":{"rendered":"Men are now suing to protect the life of aborted fetus they fathered"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Man suing on behalf of aborted fetus says it\u2019s for all \u2018men who actually want to have their baby,&#8217; lawyer says<\/h1>\n<p><!--more-->By Barnini Chakraborty | Fox News<\/p>\n<p><script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"https:\/\/video.foxnews.com\/v\/embed.js?id=6010876967001&#038;w=466&#038;h=263\"><\/script><noscript>Watch the latest video at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\">foxnews.com<\/a><\/noscript><\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\">The lawyer of the Alabama man suing an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/politics\/judiciary\/abortion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">abortion<\/a>\u00a0clinic for\u00a0terminating the life of his unborn child\u00a0against his wishes, says he wants anyone associated with the abortion to pay up.<\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\">&#8220;We are suing the clinic, the manufacturer of the pill, going after the doctor and going after any professional organization the doctor is affiliated with,&#8221; attorney Brent Helms told Fox News on Thursday, adding that &#8220;if they are all held liable, it would put a dent on the profitability of abortions.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\">On Tuesday, an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/us\/us-regions\/southeast\/alabama\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alabama<\/a>\u00a0county court recognized the aborted fetus, &#8220;Baby Roe,&#8221; as a plaintiff in the lawsuit, making the case one of the first of its kind.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The truth is, no one has ever done this,&#8221; Helms said. &#8220;The question is, why not?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Helms&#8217; client Ryan Magers, 21, of Madison County, claims his girlfriend got a medicated abortion at the Alabama Women&#8217;s Center for Reproductive Alternatives in Huntsville in February 2017 when she was six weeks pregnant.<\/p>\n<p>Magers, who was 19 years old at the time, had pleaded with his girlfriend, who was16, not to get the abortion. She\u00a0did so anyway, Helms said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A woman can go and she can have an abortion of convenience but there&#8217;s nothing that protects the father,&#8221; Helms said.<\/p>\n<p>He added that although the pregnancy was an accident, Magers, &#8220;owned up to it&#8221; and eventually warmed to the idea of parenthood.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He got excited about being dad&#8221; Helms said. &#8220;He started working double shifts&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Helms, who is seeking monetary damages and a jury trial,\u00a0says the ultimate goal is to increase the rights of would-be fathers and strip protections in place for women who are seeking abortions in Alabama.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m here for the men who actually want to have their baby,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I believe every child from conception is a baby and deserves to live.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit, which Helms hopes will eventually make its way to the U.S. Supreme Court, has alarmed some pro-choice advocates.<\/p>\n<p>On Twitter, Ilyse Hogue, the president of NARAL Pro-Choice America, called it a &#8220;very scary case&#8221; that is &#8220;asserting woman&#8217;s rights third in line.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Breaking: Alabama allows a suit from man AND fetus against abortion clinic where his girlfriend terminated her pregnancy.
