Why Solar And Lunar Eclipses Have Been Considered ‘Birds of Ill Omen’ For Millennia

During An Eclipse

In general solar and lunar eclipses are not well understood by Western civilization.  As with astrology, there has been much skepticism expressed by the scientific establishment regarding the extraordinary influences that eclipses can exert on Planet Earth and humanity.  In fact eclipses have been observed to have considerable impacts throughout the mundane realm since time immemorial.  The following article describes the “tide of the century” caused by the last solar eclipse that occurred on the same day as a supermoon.

The ancients knew that an eclipse of a major luminary was fundamentally an inauspicious celestial event.  They astutely perceived the various changes and inauspicious consequences which occurred during and after every solar and lunar eclipse.  The key word here is: INAUSPICIOUS.  The following screenshot captures the definition of inauspicious according to the OXFORD dictionary.

What did the civilizations of yesteryear know that modern societies do not?  Have things changed so profoundly in the 3rd Millennium that it is now perfectly okay to watch both solar and lunar eclipses from start to finish … without concern for any ill effects or other consequence(s)?

Looking at this matter from the viewpoint of common sense, the following observations can be made by any person, both wise and obtuse.

First, what is actually happening during an eclipse is that the light of one of the two brightest luminaries in the daytime or nighttime sky is being blocked — fully or partially — depending on the exact orbital paths of the interacting heavenly bodies. Therefore, the obvious effects are that all life forms, which are dependent on this light, are unexpectedly deprived of it throughout the duration of the eclipse.

Light is life-giving to every living thing in different ways and measures.  The various photonic wavelengths of light each produce different affects on everything within the material universe.  Modern science has not penetrated very deeply the subtle science of light; nevertheless, the sages and seers since ancient times have been aware of the highly spiritual and physical components of both sunlight and moonlight.

For this reason sun baths and walks under the full moon have provided special opportunities for healing over eons. Both of these constitute essential light therapies for those who suffer from various kinds of acute illness or chronic disease.  The obvious point here is that both sunlight and moonlight are essential to the proper functioning of human, animal and plant life.  To quite abruptly interrupt the normal shining of that light would therefore have consequences both seen and unseen.

biorhythms1

Biorhythms are particularly sensitive to the coming and going of the light emitted from the primary day and night luminaries.  These quite subtle “cyclically recurring pattern of physiological states in an organism or organ, such as alpha rhythm or circadian rhythm, are believed by some to affect physical and mental states and behavior”.[1] Consequently, when a full solar eclipse occurs during the middle of the afternoon, the normal biorhythmic patterns can be temporarily short-circuited.

“We now know that the pineal gland, in addition to being an independent pacesetter and timekeeper, is a photosensitive organ, interpreting sensory messages from the retina. It translates environmental messages of the light-dark cycle of day and night and seasonal changes into hormonal messages sent throughout the body.”

“This results in an internal daily biorhythm called the circadian rhythm. The length of time it takes to complete a single cycle of the circadian rhythm is referred to as the period of the rhythm and is usually a full day. Secretion of melatonin by the pineal reaches a peak during the night. This is one way that the pineal communicates with other organs and acts as the body’s daily timekeeper.”[2]

Secondly, when a huge, dark shadow is cast across a large swath of Planet Earth, it would seem that a portentous celestial event of enormous proportions is taking place.  Isn’t this intuitively obvious?  Of course, the modern mind has often perceived such intuitive knowledge as mere superstition.  Unfortunately, this mindset has given rise to the current unenlightened approach toward regular eclipse-watching — each and every year — which has literally put whole populations at risk.

How so?

Unlike the East, the Western nations routinely see millions come out to gaze for hours as full and partial eclipses unfold.  In so doing whole countries are now regularly exposed to the negative energies associated with the dramatic darkening of the Earth realm, particularly during a full solar eclipse.  Because of the annual regularity of eclipses — both solar and lunar — many people are now basking in the obscured and inauspicious luminary light when they ought to be inside taking precautionary measures.  Many modern-day mystics and yogis now reflexively perform the same prescribed practices as the ancients did.

So compelled were the cultures of the past to respect these impressive celestial events that they developed a whole set of protocols and procedures in an effort to preclude any potential deleterious effects.  For example, they correctly perceived that one of the most obvious results of an eclipse was impaired digestive capacity.  This was acknowledged by whole communities after simply tuning in to the body changes which predictably occurred during an eclipse.

Watching the animals, for instance, showed them not to eat during the period of the eclipse since animals shunned their food at this particular time.  This restriction for humans was further extended to the 12 and 9 hours period prior to solar and lunar eclipses respectively, when even the preparation of food was prohibited.  Any food that was prepared during that time was considered tainted by the eclipse energy and therefore thrown away.

What’s the point?  When even animals know not to eat, especially not large, heavy meals during an eclipse, it would seem that homo sapiens would understand the same. From a scientific perspective, it is now well understood that the strength of the human digestive fire (also known collectively as digestive enzymes and process) is directly related to the path of the sun in the sky.  The higher the sun is, the more brightly the digestive fire burns.  Hence, it is better to eat the main meal of the day close to noontime when the sun is at its zenith.

Because the digestive power is greatly diminished during an eclipse, it is highly recommended not to eat, or eat very little (and food that is very easy to digest) if one must. Conversely, it is good to engage in spiritual practices which counteract any adverse effects of an eclipse.  All religious traditions and many indigenous peoples had their various customs around eclipse events; however, most of them have been gradually discarded or little observed over the last few centuries.

bliss cosmic pause-001

Thirdly, there is the “Cosmic Pause” which occurs with each and every lunar and solar eclipse.  These brief interludes choreographed in the heavens provide a unique window of time in which to withdraw from worldly affairs … and go inward.  Again, the wise men of bygone eras recognized that, while the mundane realm may have been affected by misfortune during an eclipse, activities performed for spiritual advancement were greatly enhanced.  Hence, the spiritual aspirants and truthseekers throughout society were encouraged to use this valuable time to pray and meditate, chant and repeat their mantras, fast and perform selfless service.

“During a solar eclipse, the merit of virtuous or negative acts are said to multiply by ten thousand. For example, if one offers a butter lamp, water offering or torma, the virtue of one single offering increases ten thousand times. Just one recitation of the six syllable mantra also becomes ten thousand recitations.”[3]

In this way the communities of old were able to propitiate the presiding deities of the Sun and the Moon, and of Rahu and Ketu (the “shadow planets” of Vedic astrology which cause eclipses), so as to significantly alleviate the adverse effects, especially on the mundane level of existence.  If and when modern life permits, it is very good to perform whatever spiritual practices are doable throughout the period of time just before, during and after an eclipse.  The more one is able to retreat, even for a brief time, the more merit will be accumulated because of the rarified and sublime energies which are present.

Here’s how one Vedic astrologer put it:

Guidance from a Vedic Astrologer (also known as a Jyotish practitioner):

“While the eclipse is going on, it is best to stay inside with the curtains pulled and be in a meditative, contemplative state occupying ourselves with meditation or chanting of mantras. It is best not to go out and be exposed to the shadow of the eclipse or the rays of the Sun as it is being eclipsed. Exposure means we are increasing vulnerability and risk. Children born at this time will have difficult births and challenges in life in general.

It is not safe too look at the eclipse with the naked eye and, from the Jyotish perspective; it is not safe to expose one’s self to it. Be inside meditating or chanting while it is going on.

As with all eclipses, it is best to be careful and not to undertake any serious risks while this is going on. It will not be visible to most of us so the risks are minimized but the vibrational effect will still be there and affecting us in an adverse way.”[4]

There are many stories of ancient lore which have dramatized the repercussions of an ominous eclipse experienced by whole nations and city-states, powerful kings and great warriors, fierce tribes and formidable armies alike. In the Mahabharata, perhaps the greatest warrior of that age — Karna — was struck down by Arjuna at the very moment of a full solar eclipse.  This marked a turning point in the greatest and most destructive war of the entire Bronze Age which is also known as the Dwapara Yuga.

Anecdotal evidence and historical narratives abound regarding the true nature of eclipse energy.

Any investigative retrospective of history will produce numerous accounts of how an eclipse served as a harbinger of unexpected events, both apocalyptic and seemingly inconsequential.  The personal testimonies are especially telling in that they draw those who experienced them deep inside in order to contemplate the deeper meaning(s) more than just the perceived consequence(s).  In this manner an eclipse can serve as an excellent tool for personal transformation and self discovery.

shemitah-9

The author of this essay, after publishing an article titled Solar Eclipse, Supermoon & Vernal Equinox Converge on Gudhi Padva during the Shemitah became aware that it is during the period between eclipses that one ought to be particularly careful.  Solar and lunar eclipses always occur in pairs and it is the time span in between them that should be negotiated with constant vigilance and proper caution.

“Lunar eclipses occur in pairs with solar eclipses, two weeks apart. This is because the Earth, sun and moon must be aligned for an eclipse to occur, and the alignment can only happen twice during the moon’s month-long orbit.”[5]

Six days after the solar eclipse of March 20th this writer fell off a ladder with serious physical consequences.  The causes, effects and lesson are further discussed in the “Author’s Note” below.

Here’s another interesting eclipse story from TheHealthCoach.com[4], which some may find instructive:

Eclipses During The Kali Yuga, The Age Of Conflict

Like no other age the Kali Yuga always evolves to a point where falsehood becomes accepted as truth, fiction is regarded as fact.  Such a state of affairs is exactly why millions across the planet now flock to sites where they can catch an unobstructed view of the latest eclipse.  Were the truth known, those same folks would do everything possible to shield themselves from such implicitly unfortunate occurrences.

Only in the Kali Yuga, when dharma (righteous order) has eroded to a point whereby the vast majority of the human race regularly engages in every sort of self-destructive behavior, does such a woeful predicament exist.  For example, there are very few enlightened souls in the USA who appropriately respect the power and potential of a full solar or lunar eclipse.  Instead, some now attend outdoor eclipse parties and bask in the substantially diminished solar or lunar light.

When so many conduct themselves in this manner, what can be expected from collective behavior which considerably intensifies the potential consequences the larger the aggregate?  We regret to say that it really does not bode well for those communities or cities, countries or regions which have fallen directly under a full eclipse, wherein the people imprudently expose themselves to the eclipse.

Therefore, our best recommendation is for those who are aware in this regard to educate those who are not.  Likewise, the very few aware spiritual practitioners can make special intentions for the protection and edification of the ignorant majority.  Because of the extraordinary intensification of positive effects which can accrue to those disciplined practitioners, the merit can be sufficiently spread around to the masses who are blissfully unaware.

Conclusion

Lastly, there is no reason to have any apprehension or fear about a coming eclipse(s).  What will occur will occur according to the inviolable laws of karma.  Therefore, both individual and national destiny will unfold exactly as it should.  In fact it is often that the individual and collective orientation toward eclipses, particularly full solar and lunar eclipses, will serve to trigger the outworking of their respective destinies.

In the end it’s all good.  Everything that transpires under the sun (and the moon) ultimately conspires toward the good even though it’s frequently difficult to see it in the moment.  Where it concerns the remaining 3 eclipses of 2015, it is highly advised that the admonitions and proscriptions contained herein be strictly observed.  Two of the three are full lunar eclipses which constitute a tetrad of four consecutive full lunar eclipses (aka Blood Moon Tetrad) that continue to take place over the course of 2014 and 2015.

BLO2

Because this Blood Moon Tetrad inaugurates the 70th Shemitah Jubilee with the final lunar eclipse occurring on this coming September 28th, it is particularly powerful and can have unparalleled global implications.  The following essay clearly delineates the various forces at work here, as well as other critical factors which will inevitably determine the outcome of this highly influential series of luminary events.

Author’s Note

It is very important to point out the following little known aspect of an eclipse: That the 2 to 3 days before and after an eclipse ought to be considered a time of similar heightened energy.  Taking time for spiritual practices is advised during the entire seven-day time frame, if circumstances permit.  Likewise, exercising caution whenever necessary ought to be taken seriously.  Simply put, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

The science of astrology makes it clear that everyone responds to eclipse energy differently. Some folks may be much more susceptible to lunar eclipses than solar ones because of their natal moon and other relevant factors.  Similarly, others may be more vulnerable to the negative impacts of solar eclipses.  An individual’s natal chart together with the most influential transits taking place during the eclipse week can all have significant bearing.  One thing can be said with certainty and that is that major decisions ought not to be made on the day of an eclipse.

____

On the day that this member of the CCRG fell off a ladder, it was apparent that the sky was heavily laden with chemtrails.  Actually, they had been spraying nonstop for several days and the ground and porch had a slippery chemtrail slime all over them.  Obviously the Universe was sending a message not to go up on a ladder on that particular day as it was clearly not safe.  However, when one is intent on accomplishing a  mission and is also on a deadline, real or self-imposed, accidents are more likely to happen.

The other lesson to this eclipse story is that with the incessant chemtrail spraying going on globally, we now live in a different world.  The Sun (and Moon) are now often covered up by an ever-present chemcloud eclipse of sorts.  For a whole variety of reasons directly due to this intensive chemtrailing, the world is now a much more dangerous place.  How so?

Getting up on a ladder is now more risky for even the most careful and experienced among us so slippery is the ubiquitous chemtrail slime.  The relentless exposure to the toxic brew of chemtrail contaminants jeopardizes human health, especially those with weak immune systems.  Birds are now flying into glass windows and doors as never before.  There is an alarming proliferation of pernicious black molds due to protracted overcast from constantly chemtrailed skies, which are profoundly altering the ecological balance of micro-flora which exist on the land, in the waters and in the atmosphere.

This list of radical changes occurring daily throughout this plane of existence is by no means exhaustive, and it categorically shows that things are clearly moving in the wrong direction.  Which demonstrates just how much life on Planet Earth has really changed in just the past few years.
